Home Technology consulting
Straight technical advice, in writing, from people who still build.
Architecture reviews, due diligence, vendor selection and interim technical leadership. Fixed scopes, written deliverables, no pyramid of juniors.
Capabilities
Where we are useful.
Consulting goes wrong when the adviser has never had to live with the advice. Everyone who consults for Data HS also delivers on the development line, which keeps the recommendations attached to reality.
Architecture review
An independent read of your systems, the risks in them and what it would cost to fix each one. Prioritised by consequence, not by how interesting the work is.
Technical due diligence
Pre-transaction assessment of a target company: code quality, architecture, team capability, licensing exposure and the real cost of the roadmap being sold.
Vendor selection
Requirements definition, RFP authoring, supplier shortlisting and evaluation. We hold no reseller agreements, so the recommendation is not for sale.
Fractional CTO
Interim or part time technical leadership for companies that need the judgement of a CTO before they can justify the salary of one.
Security and resilience
Practical assessment of your exposure, backup and recovery posture, and access control. Findings ranked by likely damage rather than by scanner severity.
Cost rationalisation
Cloud spend, licensing and supplier contracts reviewed line by line. This work routinely pays for itself inside a quarter.
What you receive
A document, not a relationship you cannot end.
Every consulting engagement produces something you keep and can act on without us. That is deliberate. If the value of the advice depends on us staying in the room, it was not advice, it was a subscription.

Engagement models
Three ways to buy advice.
Pick the shape that fits the problem. We will tell you if you have picked the wrong one.
01
Single review
One defined question answered thoroughly: an architecture, a supplier decision, a security posture, a target company. Scoped, priced and delivered inside a month.
Best for: A decision with a deadline
02
Advisory retainer
A fixed number of senior days each month for the questions that arrive without warning. Unused days roll forward one month.
Best for: Continuous technical judgement
03
Interim leadership
A senior operator embedded two or three days a week to run the technical function while you recruit, restructure or integrate an acquisition.
Best for: A leadership gap right now
